Hazing Prevention

Every Hornet deserves a positive, safe, and inclusive student experience—especially when it comes to involvement in student organizations. Activities should celebrate the values of leadership, friendship, service, and growth. Hazing and other forms of abusive behavior have no place in our campus community.

What is Hazing?

Hazing is defined under California Penal Code Section 245.6 as any method of initiation or pre-initiation into a student organization or group that is likely to cause physical harm, personal degradation, or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm to a student. Hazing may involve acts directed toward former, current, or prospective students and applies whether or not the organization is officially recognized by the institution. Hazing does not include customary athletic events or school-sanctioned activities.

Policies on Hazing

Fullerton College follows the standards outlined in the North Orange County Community College District Board Policy on Standards of Student Conduct and Discipline, which also references California Education Code Sections 66300 and 66301 regarding student rights and conduct.
